Rachel Gray
Cello
Rachel Gray read music at the University of York, specialising in period instrument performance during postgraduate studies, her teachers including Ioan Davies and Jennifer Ward Clarke. In addition to Manchester Baroque, she plays principal cello with Yorkshire Baroque Soloists and performs with several other ensembles including 18th Century Concert Orchestra, English Haydn Festival Orchestra, I Fagiolini, Concert Royal and Newcastle Baroque. Recordings include Bach’s St John and St Matthew Passions and B minor Mass with Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, with whom she has performed in festivals in Germany and the Czech Republic, 18th century English Cantatas with Concert Royal and Haydn's London Trios. She is also an experienced tutor of baroque cello, continuo and ensemble playing, working at the University of York for many years.
